Overview
The Town Council for the Town of Six Mile operates under the Council Form of Government. The governing body is composed of five elected officials: one Mayor and four Council Members, all elected by the community. Council members serve four-year terms, with the terms staggered so that one half of the membership is elected every two years. Members take their seats and the Oath of Office at the first December council meeting. After each general municipal election, Town Council elects one of its members to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore for a term of up to two years. The Mayor Pro Tempore assumes the duties of the Mayor in the event of the Mayor’s temporary absence, disability, or if a vacancy occurs until a new Mayor is elected.
