Board of Zoning Appeals

The Board of Zoning Appeals reviews and decides requests related to the Town’s zoning rules. This includes hearing appeals of zoning decisions, considering variances when strict application of the zoning ordinance creates hardship, and reviewing certain special exceptions. The BZA acts as a quasi-judicial board, meaning it makes decisions based on evidence and established standards. Its role is to ensure fairness, consistency, and proper interpretation of the zoning ordinance while protecting the rights of property owners and the community.

The Planning Commission typically meets in the Community Room at 6 P.M. on the third Thursday of each month. Meeting dates and times are subject to change, so please refer to the Town Calendar to verify date and time.

The Planning Commission helps guide the long-term growth and development of our community. They review make recommendations on zoning and development regulations, and help update the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. Their role is to ensure that new development is safe, well-planned, and consistent with the community’s goals. The Commission serves in an advisory capacity to Town Council and works to promote public input and responsible planning for the future.

The Recreation Board supports and advises the Recreation Department in planning programs, activities, and improvements for the community. The board helps review needs, promote participation, and provide guidance on policies, budgets, and long-term goals. Their purpose is to ensure that recreational opportunities are safe, accessible, and reflective of what residents want. Working with staff, the board helps strengthen community engagement and enhance the quality of parks, sports, and recreational programs.
